Roots 2008

An Inverness-based inter-denominational youth ministry

Check the message list at the foot of this page for most recent update announcements.

Roots is a monthly inter-denominational youth event which meets in Inshes Church, Inverness from 7 till 9 pm on the last Friday of each school-term month.

Young people (S1-6) from throughout the Highlands and across the churches and denominations are made very welcome and it’s an excellent opportunity for them to socialise and have fun in a safe environment.

During each evening there will be games and snacks; a Pot Shot (a response to one of their questions) and a time of praise led by the roots band.
The focus of each evening is a 20 min talk from God’s Word. This term is entitled MASTERSMIND and uses the famous game show as a backdrop for looking at 5 ‘ultimate questions’.

With our first distinctive being the focus on God’s Word our other distinctive is our firm belief in the Church of Jesus Christ. We are not seeking to set up a parallel ‘youth’ church or negatively impact any local church work. Instead we see roots as supporting your work: encouraging young Christians to serve in their own Church context and challenging non-Christians to turn to Christ and become part of His Bride, the Church.

Just to give you all a 'heads-up' that Roots is on next Friday (25 April) at the usual time of 7 till 9pm at Inshes Church. Please remind any S1 - 6 young people you're in contact with.

Following on from the last two Ultimate Questions that we attempted to answer: Who is God? and What's the meaning of life? this month's question is another biggie: Why Did Jesus Come?

We meet to pray for the work next Tuesday so if we can pray for any specific young person or issue for you then email prayer@gotroots.co.uk
Also, if you've any questions about Roots or need help with any transport or accomodation issues then do feel free to chuck me an email.

Thank you for your support. May you know God's blessing and guidance in the work he's called you to.

The Roots end of term bash is on this Friday @ Inshes Church from 7.00 till 9.00pm (ish).

This month we're having special guest JK flying in from the States to answer the last Ultimate Question: "Where am I going?"

John Wilson - a Christian singer/songwriter from the Highlands - will be leading us in praising God.

Also, for those of you who will be going to Uni after the hols there will be a chance to ask questions and get ideas & advice to help you get off on the right foot.

As usual there will be loads of games, good craic and a heap of delicious snacks to consume.

So if you're not jetting off to the sun as soon as school finishes on Friday then come hang out, have a laugh and before the summer holidays kick off give yourself the chance to think about where your life is going.

Hope you can make it.

Roots bursts onto the stage again next Friday (31 Oct) at the usual place (Inshes Church) and time (7 -9pm).

Forget the tall hats and scary masks - come hear what God's saying about the big issues in our lives.
