Some community ministry news from Alness
The MacCallum Centre in Alness is a base from and within which a variety of ministries reach out to the community in the town and surrounding area. Johnny Bremner brings some news of all that is going on.
Road to Recovery
Every Tuesday night at 7.30pm
- a time for people strugglig with addictions and life issues
The Wednesday Drop In
Each Wednesday from 10.00am - 2.00pm
there is a regular Drop-In where people from different denominations – Christians and non-Christians alike — can get together and have a chat over a plate of home-made soup and enjoy delicious home baking in a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Following on there is a time of singing the good old praise songs from Mission Praise and the Redemption Song Book.
Johnny Bremner of Rosskeen Free Church and one of the organisers enthuses:
"A fantastic time is held by all and we go home richly blessed."
Every Wednesday from 11.00 - 12 noon
there is a Bible Study in the chalet in the centre.
Ministry in Song
has a monthly
'Ministry in Song'
on the evenings of the
third Thursday of each month at 7.00pm
Johnny who has a wide-ranging music ministry of his own has guests from as far afield as America, Ireland, London, Edinbourgh, Fraserbourgh and Aberdeen. Additionally many local people from the surrounding areas come along to sing and give their testomonies.
Following the time of testimony those present on each occasion enjoy a cup of tea with sandwiches and home baking. This time provides a chance for the ministry team to chat with people and pray with them if they need it.
Knit and Natter
From 10.00am to 12.30 each Thursday
, a group of lady's from the churches and the community get together and share their experiances about knitting and embroidery.
This group is seeing more people coming along which is a great encouragement to all concerned. The invitation to those interested in knitting is to "come along and enjoy yourself".
These are now running
every second Saturday
and are proving to be very popular running from 10.00 - 4.00pm.
Sunday Bible Study
Rev. Iain Macaskill leads a Bible Study
every Sunday at 7.30pm
