Reality in the Highlands to close

The Highland branch of Reality Adventure works which works with children who have communication difficulties is to close at the end of November. An invitation is extended to interested parties to a 'farewell bash' on 27 Nov.

Reality7Reality in the Highlands, the Christian charity based in North Kessock which supports young people with social interraction difficulties (AS/ASD) by the provision of residential weekends away, has asked Christians Together to publish the following statement.

"It is with great regret that we announce this sad news that from 30th November 2012 Reality in the Highlands will cease operation.
The decision to close this work was made by the Trustees a couple of weeks ago after much deliberation, consideration of options, tears and prayerful concern. In essence, we are facing ongoing funding challenges which, despite much effort, we have not been able to resolve.

As you might imagine we are very saddened by how things have worked out, especially in light of the effort that has gone into the different aspects of this work, and in particular we are saddened for the many young people, families and carers whom we know have benefited positively from the service and whom we had hoped would continue to do so for some time in the future.  We also recognise the loss of all the amazing efforts and work put in by our staff and volunteers in this time.

We would like to express our very sincere gratitude to you for your interest and support and your prayers over the past 18 months and our appreciation of the good working relationships we have enjoyed with so many over the past few years in setting up this venture. From the perspective of the young people and their families, it would be wonderful if a number of local organisations and individuals were to be able to continue this work, possibly in some other form and partnership."

Ending on a positive note
