National Marriage Week: 7 - 14 February 2008

Global Warming

by Colm Black

According the experts at Kew Gardens things are changing in the plant world. Whereas you might have had plants flowering a week early in the past due to mild weather, this year some of them are a full month ahead of schedule. It seems they are confused about the season. They think it is spring when we think it is still winter. Perhaps however they are right and we are the ones who are wrong. Global warning is impacting us, confusing us. We may not be sure which season we are in. Of course, in Scotland we have been dealing with this for ages, for it is said of this fair land that you can have all four seasons in one day! Can you fool the Scots?

Gary Chapman has written a very important book called 'The 4 Seasons of Marriage' designed to help any couple identify exactly which season their marriage is in, not chronologically but in terms of present climate. You may think you are in winter when you are actually only in autumn. How has a marriage which started out in spring suddenly become winter? Can a winter marriage be reborn? How can we keep the spring, the summer from becoming autumn and winter? Is it possible, realistic?

This is the best book any married couple could read. It will not only help you recognise where your relationship is in terms of climate but give you practical and Biblical insights on how to look after your relationship, whichever season you are in.
It can help keep your relationship in spring or summer. Equally important, for those in autumn (whose relationship looks good from the outside but internally is struggling) or winter (where things are permanently frosty) it will give hope and practical steps back to spring and summer.

The Book of Proverbs 24: 3 - 4 says:
“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”

This book will give you wisdom, understanding and the knowledge on which to build and maintain and if need-be, reclaim your marriage.

As a treat, purchase a copy and read it together. And since our friendship and work circles all include couples who are struggling and we wonder what on earth we can do to help, this is the best book you could possibly give them. So, purchase a second copy to give away.
