Care for the Family Area Representative

David Wilson is Care for the Family's National Representative for Scotland and he is looking to find Area Representives in Inverness and Oban.
Role Title: Area Representatives for Inverness and Oban
Role
As a national charity CFF is very reliant upon the help of its volunteer workers to ensure that our resources and information get into the hands of people who really need to have it. This is an opportunity for someone with a heart for families to be involved with one of the leading family charities in the UK in making a difference to homes and communities in Scotland.
This unpaid, voluntary role is supported and monitored by the National Representative for Scotland and the Scotland Office, based in Linlithgow. The role will also receive operational support from our HQ Team in Cardiff. The voluntary worker will receive training on our wide ranging resources and presentation techniques. There will be a degree of flexibility for the Representative to develop work, in line with overall policies and objectives, in ways that are most relevant to the needs in the Inverness area.
The Area Rep’s focus will be to work towards the following specific measures:
• Building general brand recognition and reputation for CFF in the local as evidenced by new contacts added to database with a local area Postcode, purchases of resources and event places by contacts with a local Postcode.
• Uptake by churches within the local community of the Engage agenda as evidenced by an increase in the number of churches, church leaders and representatives added to the database;
• Positive impact on social and family issues including levels of drug-taking by young people, indebtedness of young people, confidence in the parenting of teenagers (etc) through delivery of CFF-backed courses by CFF-trained facilitators within the Community, as evidenced by qualitative/anecdotal and quantitative data gathered from facilitators (and their parent organisation/church if applicable)
• Positive Brand recognition and reputation for CFF with Local Government, NHS etc in the local area as evidenced by repeat delivery of one or more programmes on behalf of or in association with LG/NHS agencies.
• Positive Brand recognition and reputation for CFF with Businesses and Business Organisations in the local area as evidenced by repeat delivery of one or more programmes on behalf of or in association with Businesses or Business Organisations.
Personal Qualities
Any person filling this voluntary role is likely to:
• Have sufficient spare time to undertake this role.
• Have knowledge, understanding and experience of church life.
• Have good communication, people and networking skills - being able to engage effectively with individuals and with both small and large groups.
• Be someone who is able to demonstrate a high degree of pro-activity, being able to develop their own effective programmes and plans.
• Be able to demonstrate good presentation skills when representing Care for the Family to individuals, small and large groups.
• Be able to work with minimum supervision. Although support is available, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to work and plan effectively without regular reference to HQ.
• Be able to prioritise their workload and manage their diary so that they are not overloaded by this voluntary role.
• Have reasonable IT skills especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint including e-mail and internet access.
• The ability to drive would be advantageous.
Expectations
This is an unpaid, voluntary position and it is therefore expected that the activities will only be undertaken in the voluntary workers spare time. This will be a flexible arrangement and CFF will discuss how this will operate with each worker.
It is likely that a certain amount of traveling will be necessary as part of this role. Care for the Family will be responsible for covering the costs of this traveling and will determine the most appropriate way of doing this with the voluntary worker. Other agreed out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Care for the Family is an organisation that has a Christian ethos statement. This role requires someone who is sympathetic to this ethos and who can demonstrate a personal Christian faith.
