Highland Theological College UHI is very privileged to be receiving the library of Rutherford House, the renowned centre for theological study and research, which was established in 1983 by the Scottish Evangelical Research Trust. Rutherford House are selling their property in Edinburgh and have kindly donated their library to us. This consists of about 15,000 volumes in total, including 1,500 journals. There are many important titles and journal runs in the collection and it is a great privilege for us to be the recipients.
Two existing special collections contained within the Highland Theological College UHI library are the theological section of the Fort Augustus Benedictine Monastery Library and elements of the William Temple Collection from the John Rylands Library in the University of Manchester.
The gracious provision of the Rutherford House collection will significantly enhance our collection and bring the total of volumes in our library to about 65,000. As well as increasing the resource provision for undergraduate students, the research provision will also be considerably augmented. The outcome will be a theological library at HTC of major benefit not only to the United Kingdom but overseas as well.
Highland Theological College UHI is the local UHI college for the Ross-shire area. As well as providing courses in Theology, HTC is used by students who are studying courses offered across the UHI network via video-conferencing links.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the HTC library, or about any courses, can contact the college on www.htc.uhi.ac.uk or 01349 780000.
