Into 2026
There is one thing we can be absolutely certain about...
PREFACE
In contrast to almost everything I have written for the ChristiansTogether website since 2007 and my scribbling for the weekend columns which I wrote for a daily newspaper before that, I have found it very difficult – in terms of the nature of much of the content – to have to write the following article.
I recall the late David Pawson’s book ‘ When Jesus Returns’ in which he outlined what he called “the philosophy of history”. In the very helpful publication, he summarised four secular opinions regarding how history proceeds and how the future might unfold before coming to what he understood as the biblical view. In sort, and I paraphrase, he wrote: “Things will get much worse and then in a moment become immeasurably better”.
I believe Pawson is correct in his understand of apocalyptic events. I also believe that we are heading towards, if not already in the “much worse” stage. For the unbeliever there are – inter alia - the options of denial and/or optimism. But I can’t bring myself to ignore or sugar-coat what I see happening in and to our world and to those of us who live within it.
Accordingly, you may wish to stop reading at the point, but if not what I offer is merely my assessment – from both biblical and secular perspectives – of the present condition with some thought on of future prospects. But most of all I am very much aware that the time we have to take God’s message of salvation towards a world and its people is decreasing by the day.
What follows is necessarily brief and there is much more which could be said; and much more material to cover.
You are most welcome to travel further down this page, but whether or not you do, I trust that you will be encouraged and strengthend as we move and pray forward into 2026.

However, for the moment at least, we wait expectantly as we see the foreshadows of end-time evil developing rapidly.

The not-so-good news

In 2020 the World Economic Forum and the World Health Organisation rolled out a pre-planned ‘pandemic’, to drive us from The Fourth Industrial Revolution/The Great Reset into Agenda 2030). This grand plan is now powering forward: it is aimed at herding us into a technology-controlled dystopia of technocracy and transhumanism. It is a veritable ‘New World Order’ whose progenitors claim that we will see ‘The Externalisation of the Hierarchy’.
”We are in the midst of an Omniwar."
So it is that God’s created order and we, the people of His creation are being attacked on every level and across the whole spectrum of human experience. To use Dr. David A. Hughes’ expression, we are in the midst of an ‘Omniwar’.
Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” (Gen. 11:4)
The challenges are immense and the rate of change breathtaking. To quote from an old journalistic adage; “Today’s newspapers wrap tomorrow’s fish and chips.” On any one morning we don’t know what we will wake up to.
Added to this, are the enslaving prospects of burgeoning surveillance, Digital ID and a programmable digital currency, Now the onrush of Artificial Intelligence is destined to take us to a place we have never been before.

”Triple Jeopardy for the West’ of “aggressive secularism, radical Islamism and multi-culturalism”
For nation [ethnos] shall rise against nation…. (Matt. 24:7)
in line with David Pawson’s prophetic insight of 2003 we, in the UK and in other ‘western’ nations, are being intentionally and very deliberately swamped by what Bishop Nazir Ali described back in 2012 as being the ‘Triple Jeopardy for the West’ of “aggressive secularism, radical Islamism and multi-culturalism”. These dynamics which have been massively increased by deliberately-planned mass immigration are now causing major threats to social cohesion.
In an article entitled Civil War Comes to the West Professor David Betz of the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, has written:
The fact of the matter is that the tools of revolt in the form of various appurtenances of modern life are just lying around, knowledge of how to employ them is widespread, targets are obvious and undefended, and more and more formerly regular citizens seem minded to take the shot.
Meanwhile, at an international level we see major challenges emerging.

Since the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the USA has been the primary global hegemon. However, change is in the air. China is flexing its muscles while America struggles to maintain its overarching influence while finding itself increasingly stretched by strategic overreach. We are also witnessing the flight of the sovereign wealth funds of developed nations away from US Treasuries. Countries are busy repatriating their gold, and international trading is increasingly moving away from the mighty US dollar. An increasing number of energy suppliers are now requiring payments in the Rouble or the Yuan. The BRICS nations are mirroring the architecture of the dollar-based Bretton‑Woods dollar system by providing alternative liquidity, development finance through the New Development Bank.
In the military sphere, the Ukranian proxy war through which Europe and the globalists are waging rolls on while most recently the ‘peace-loving’ Donald Trump is strong-arming Venezuela to the extent that the latter in not only cosying up to Putin, but has been hosting Russian naval vessels in its waters. In terms of comparative risk one US commentator described the 1962 Cuban missile crisis as a relatively minor diplomatic rift.

And of course we have the ongoing situation in the Middle East. Israel sees Iran as an existential military threat. President Trump sees Iran as an economic threat; being the major part of a new trade route from the Indian Ocean to the Caucuses. Meanwhile God sees the nation of Israel and its people as the means of displaying His glory amongst the nations. (Ezek. 39:27). Meanwhile Hamas has not been removed and Hezbollah will have been licking their wounds and regrouping on the northern border with Lebanon. It will be well worth keeping an eye on what is happening in Iran as any major changes will impact on the whole region, and even beyond.
Coupling these multiple instabilities and potential dangers we are looking at major regime changes with an earth-shaking transfer of power from the West to the East.
Now to the good news
However, in the midst of it all there is good news. There are those around the world who have been recognising the spiritual dynamics behind all of that we have been seeing; particularly since 2020.
As Dr. Clare used her professional expertise to critically examine the nature of the medical aspects of the ‘pandemic’ and the collapse of medical and pharmacological integrity, and the assaults on bodily autonomy and informed consent she identified the lies a came through to a knowledge of the ultimate truth in Jesus Christ.
Elsewhere, Keith Malcomson of Limerick City Church reports of many New Agers coming through to at high speeds to a solid Christian faith.
"I suddenly realised demons were real. I had been tricked. I saw that evil was not an illusion. The facade of the New Age crumbled before my very eyes. I realised that Jesus was real, and so was the devil. I fell to my knees and the fear of the Lord came over me. I cried out to Jesus in desperation, knowing that I needed him to save me, not just from demonic possession but from my sins. I knew Jesus had died for me on the cross." Sarah; a former New Ager. In the final analysis, there is only one answer to it all.
In the midst of it all, and ‘big picture’ terms, I hear those secular analysts who recognise the demonic at play, but yet they are of the belief that: “We can work it out.” However that is not what the Bible tells us.
In the final analysis, there is only one answer to it all. And this is where I return to the start of this meandering new year missive. There is only one sure and absolute expectation and hope: our Saviour is coming back. He will return, in a blast of trumpets (1 Thess. 4:16) to the spot whereby he left (Acts 1:11, Zech. 14:4) He will come in recognisable and bodily form; visible to all people everywhere (Zech. 12:10, Rev. 1:7). At his coming he will destroy that ‘son of perdition’ (2 Thess. 2:3,8) and institute his millennial reign on the earth. (Rev. 20.4). Praise the Lord.
Meanwhile, we read:
“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; avoid such men as these. (2 Tim. 3:1-5)
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.” (Jude 1:20-23)
“So let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb 12:1-2)
“As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4)
Therefore. go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt. 28:19-20)
It is both an immeasurable privilege and a gigantic responsibility, to be alive as Christian believers at this time. As we head into 2026, pray that we will indeed be worthy of and alive to our blessed calling and the Great Commission given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ as we await his return.
