Youth Prayer Event - Strictly Come Praying!

"Now is the time to pray!"

Strictly Come Praying is a national youth event gathering young people and their leaders to pray for their schools, families and nation and has run for the past two years in Grangemouth. It has been fantastic to see young people learning more of prayer, getting more comfortable with it and even gaining a new hunger to pray. This year, it’s happening again. Only this time the event is being run in Inverness too!
The event takes place on -

Saturday 18th April 2009
the Culduthel Christian Centre
11.00 am – 4.00pm

The event is ideal for groups of youth (P7 – S6) to come along to with a leader and it would be great to see many youth groups from across the Highlands coming along for the day.
Booking starts on Tuesday 6th January and tickets cost £3 per person. Bookings should be made through -

SU Glasgow office
Tel:  0141 352 7632
or you can send an Email

Both previous events at Grangemouth sold out quickly and we expect the Inverness event to be the same, so please do secure your places early!

We have an excellent programme lined up for the day with Jamie Grant (HTC) as our keynote speaker, the Imagine Festival band (from Aberdeen, previously involved with the One Band) and some great seminars to choose from including:
"What do I pray about?" - using the Bible in our prayers
"Does God listen?" - When prayer seems difficult
"In the mix" - Praying IN and FOR your school
"Different ways to pray" - a gallery of modern and not so modern ways to pray.

Suitable for youngsters from Primary 7 to Secondary 6 - please book as soon as possible!

Hello everybody,

Scott McRoberts from Scripture Union here. Last Friday I was at Roots, letting people know about Strictly Come Praying, a youth prayer event for P7-S6 happening on Saturday 18th April at Culduthel Christian Centre, Inverness, from 11am-4pm. I want to thank everyone involved in Roots for their support for this event, and for all that they have done to help make it happen. I also want to encourage those of you who have not yet booked your youth group to come along!

The event is geared towards helping young people, wherever they are in their Christian journey, to become more excited by prayer. Here's the programme...
Worship led by the band from the Imagine Festival
Teaching from Jamie Grant of Highland Theological College
Altogether multimedia prayer in a great atmosphere
Workshop 1: "Does God really listen - dealing with problems in our prayers" or "Using the bible in prayer"
Workshop 2: "Different ways to pray - try out lots of different prayer styles" or "Praying in and for your school"
Interactive prayer stations in the large hall, from world prayer to a graffiti wall of prayers of thanks; from a place to be prayed for to a corner to chill out and pray in.
And let's not forget - lunch provided by O'Brien's Sandwiches!
Seminars are being led by some great people involved in youth work in the Highlands and Aberdeenshire. If you want to know more, do contact me (details below).

We'd love your youth group to come. It costs £3 per head, and to come you need to book your numbers in advance. Perhaps young people can pay for their places, or perhaps your church could fund it as an event which invests in their discipleship? To book, all you've got to do is reply to this email answering the following:

Your name:
Email address:
Postal address:
Name of youth group:
How many young people in P7-S2 are you bringing?:
How many young people in S3-S6 are you bringing?:
How many leaders are you bringing?:

That's it. We'll send a request for a cheque to cover the total number of people, and all the information that you need to know for the day. Please note that we cannot refund any places that you do not finally take up on the day, but we do need to have all your bookings before Wednesday 8th April.

We look forward to seeing you and your group on Saturday 18th April. God bless you in your ministry.

Scott McRoberts
