Swedish Christian Band to play in Alness

An Alness-based felllowship is hosting a special music event where the BIG STREET band will play with their own mix of acoustic, pop, smooth jazz, west coast music and soul.

Billy McMaster of the Calvary Church which meets in Kensal Community Hall in Alness writes:

Big StreetBIG STREET have played across Europe and toured Japan and now the Swedish band is heading for Alness where they will perform at the special guest service.

The Scandanavian Christian group bring forth a fresh sound of pop soul, flavoured with an essence of sweet jazz as featured on their recently released 'The Tree of Life'. The musicians are currently bending the airwaves with this sophomore project, being released worldwide.

Accolades are being given by radio stations worldwide from Australia to the UK and Darren Mangold from BBC Radio Nottingham has said: “Really enjoyed the pace…well produced, great sound and message. A really good, great contemporary sound!”

Their songs bring a reality of hope and truth. The number entitled 'Without True Love' speaks of the necessity of love and its importance here on earth and beyond. The music in 'Humble Me' is clear, sweet and succinct, moving you slowly, but surely into the inner court. As you sway into the direction of 'Alright', you will have that blessed assurance that you’ve seen the light! This CD has a “touch the heart, touch the soul” movement all of its own.

Comments from fans, media, and radio and fellow musicians tell the tale of the music of BIG STREET from around the world.

“Wow, what a great sound. Jazzy, but so much more!” (Bryan from the USA.)
“Very good." (Rebecca Kelly of BBC Radio Manchester)
"Good harmonies and lyrics." (Bill Rowe, Citysound Radio)
"Catchy beat, would like to hear more." (Dennis Payne, SON FM 88, Australia}
"Great voice, good song and lyrics" (Darren Mangold, Community and BBC local radio).

Simple statements, but to the point! It’s good music, with great vocals, stirring lyrics and “stay-with-you” beats!

The style is a mix of acoustic pop, smooth jazz, west coast music and soul. If you like that you will hear their influences. But their music also shows that they have developed their own uniquely recognisable style with blending musicianship.

Most of the musicians have studied at the University of Music in Gothenburg and are therefore highly and professionally trained.

We are delighted that BIG STREET has accepted our invitation to feature in our guest service at the church. Many people still think of church as boring and not relevant or culturally not up to date and we hope that evenings like this will not only be extremely enjoyable but address these issues in the minds of those who perhaps don’t visit a church too often. Everyone who comes along will receive a warm welcome and of course, there is no admission charge for the evening.”

BIG STREET are scheduled to play in
