Teaching Evening with Rev Dominic Smart

As part of this year's Alive Festival, Rev Dominic Smart, minister at Gilcomston Church of Scotland in Aberdeen, will be speaking at Kinmylies Church of Scotland, Inverness.

Inverness-based Alive Ministry is pleased to announce a special evening of worship and teaching to be held in Kinmylies Church of Scotland on Monday 13th June 2011 at 7.30pm. The speaker on the evening will be Rev Dominic Smart, minister of Gilcomston Church of Scotland in Aberdeen.  

 

Dominic will be teaching on the following topic:

 

" Christian Identity and our relationship with Christ"  from Romans 1 vs1-17

 Dominic SmartDominic Smart  was born in Yorkshire but has lived in Scotland since 1979 and has been the Minister at Gilcomston since 1998. He was previously a Minister in Dundee. He is a regular speaker at conferences such as the Keswick Convention as well at universities and other venues.


He is a visiting lecturer at the Highland Theological College. Dominic and his wife Marjorie have four children, a dog and two cats. He became a Christian in 1973 after a gospel meeting in Bradford City football ground, and for many years was involved in United Beach Missions.


He has written several books, including When We Get It Wrong, on failure; Grace, Faith and Glory, on the Bible's antidotes to legalism; and Kingdom Builders and Kingdom Growth on the book of Acts (all published by Authentic Media), 40 Days with Jesus and 40 Days with David (published by Christian Focus Publications). He likes jazz music and Indian food and roasts his own coffee (yes, he's hooked!).

Having read his most recent seasonal address to his flock I get the impression that he is very adept a mixing grace with works - but, don't we all from time to time.....

Antibody, the appreciation of the grace that has met us is inextricably linked to our response to that grace. Our response to grace ought to be a desire and commitment to work in the service of our divine Master,
